Energy week commences in Libya
2004-09-15/ Libya energy week kicked off 14 September at Tripoli
international fair ground.
The four day week aims to show the available investment
opportunities in oil sector. Libya energy week is the premier trade
event to take place in Libya.
It is organized by the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Great
Man-Made River Authority, and the Libya Mining Company.
The event will encompass a broad section of energy industry
including oil and gas, power and electricity, and water and
environment.
Leading international companies will take part in this week
including Shell International, Repsol Ypf, Norsk Hydro, Siemens,
Woodside, Man Ferrostal, Weatherford, and Areva.
Libya is rich in natural and mineral resources. Its comparatively
high GDP pre capita stands at approximately $ 7500 per year and is
the highest in Africa.
GDP stood at $ 55.1 billion in 2000, and growth is expected to reach
5.6% in 2004. Inflation is expected to reach 2.8% in 2004.
