US lifts sanctions imposed on its companies and
banks dealing with Libya
2004-09-21/ The United States of America has decided to completely
remove all sanction measures imposed on the American companies and
banks dealings with Libya.
The American president, George Bush, issued Monday an executive
order to end the four executive orders which have been imposed by
America by virtue of which the USA imposed restrictions on American
companies and banks on dealings with Libya.
By virtue of this new executive order issued by President Bush
Monday the restrictions on travel, trade and air flights to and from
Libya were lifted including scheduled and chartered air flights.
It also includes the unblocking of all frozen Libyan assets in the
American Banks and the Libyan properties in the United States of
America.
The executive order also allows American companies to pay taxes to
Libya as well as permits granting of export credits and guarantees
permits American exporters to invest in Libya.
President Bush confirmed that making this executive order is in line
with the desire of the United States to promote and develop
bilateral relations with Libya.
