The Leader
receives the Italian Minister of Interior
The Leader of the Revolution received today the Italian
Minister of Interior, Giuseppe Pisanu, and his accompanying
delegation, who offered the leader his congratulations on the new
victory scored by Great Jamahiriya, by the EU decision to fully lift
the embargo on sales and export of weapons to Libya.
The victory underlines again, the strength and strong
will of Great Jamahiriya because of the steadfastness of the Libyan
people in the face of external challenges, and also due to the
wisdom of the leader in managing the battle.
During his audience with the Leader, the Italian
minister presented his country's view point on ways to address the
phenomenon of immigration, which is in line with what the leader has
already oriented during the visit of the Italian prime Minister,
Silivio Berlusconi, and his meeting with the Leader on August 25,
which were based on the following :
Organizing legitimate immigration, undertaking
development in the source countries of such immigration, and making
efforts to curb illegal immigration.
The Italian minister explained that his country has
adopted such vision and would present it to the European Union,
pointing out that Italy and Great Jamahiriya constitute the two main
countries in such vision, and that it would be a common work
programme between the two European and African Unions.
The Italian minister of Interior informed the Leader
about the ongoing arrangements by the Italian government, to send a
team of Italian engineers to conduct a study of the road project to
be executed by Italy as a big initiative inline with fulfillment of
its commitment to the Libyan people's right to compensation for the
colonialist era.
The Italian Minister of Interior offered to the Leader
a historic map of Sardinia island, explaining the names of some
cities and islands in Latin and Italian languages including Porto
Tors which name in Latin is Toras Liba Zunus which means "the Libyan
tower" and an island called " Zaura" and Iteri town from which the
Italian minister descended.
The Leader offered explanation about the ancient
history of Sardinia island, explaining that the Phoenicians who were
an Arab tribe from Lebanon settled down in Sardinia about 800 BC,
then inhabited by the Greek, followed by the Carthages, then the
Romans and the Byzantines. At the out set of the 8 AD it was seized
by the Muslims during the era of Musa Ben Nussair. This ancient
history of Sardinia from 800 BC to 800 AD shows that the Italians
were the latest to come to the island.
