Basic People's Congresses continue their sessions Thursday; 26 November 2005, 11:04

According to the Jamahiriya News Agency, the Basic Peoples Congresses across Great Jamahiriya and its administrative regions, continued today Thursday their meetings to lay down the philosophy, the domestic and external public policies of Great Jamahiriya, for the coming year, 2006.

With overwhelming participation, and serious and responsible discussions, underlining the commitment of the Libyan people to their authority and exercise of their direct peoples democracy, in the basic peoples congresses, where all Libyan adults, both gender, ruling themselves by themselves, without representation, exclusion or marginalization, the basic people's congresses , totaling 468 congresses, and 2935 congregations ( across Libya) continued their sessions Thursday to lay down the various domestic and external policies of Great Jamahiriya, by discussing topics on their agenda for this year, which they themselves drafted last September.

The congresses are to discuss all sectors and every domain and aspect of life, so the Libyan people, with their diverse educational levels, professions, skills and jobs at the (468) basic peoples congresses, would draw the policies of these sectors and fields and run their society and state domestically and externally, to serve their national interests and entrust their planning and executive tools to lay down practical programmes for such policies, as well as implementation, follow up and monitor through peoples administrative, financial and technical watchdog. The files to be discussed are as follows:

1- Speeches statements and orientations of the Leader.

2- Follow up and reports.

3- Laws.

4- Budget.

5- Youth and sports.

6- Foreign liaison and International, Cooperation sector.

7-Planning sector.

8- Tourism sector file.

9- Manpower, and training.

10- Energy sector.

11- Culture sector.

12- Information sector.

13- Economy and Trade.

14- Justice sector.

15- Financial sector.

16- Public Securitynications and transportation sector.

26- Industry sector.

27- Accountability.
