The establishment
in Benghazi of the International Fund for HIV-Children Victims; 22
January 2006, 10:21.
The first meeting was held in
Tripoli Saturday morning under the auspices of the Gaddafi
Foundation for Development between the Board of Directors of
Benghazi International Fund and representative of the families of
Libyan children -victims- Association who were injected with HIV
virus/AIDS, during their treatment at Benghazi children hospital.
A
press statement by the Association said that an agreement was
reached at this meeting to officially establish the fund on
condition that it will begin its work after a final agreement is
reached to meet the demands of the concerned families.
The
statement pointed out that the meeting discussed three basic demands
for which the fund was established:

Improving Benghazi Center to treat those children -victims -.

Providing advanced life-long treatment for the children at home and
abroad.

Paying direct compensation for the families of those children.
The
statement indicated that it was agreed at this meeting to refer
these demands to an international meeting to be held in the coming
few days with other international parties making contributions to
this Fund.
The
statement underlined that the association presented during this
meeting several proposals providing for some amendments to the
articles of association of the fund which would be discussed by the
board of directors of the fund. The claim of the children (victims)
families association of (ten million euros) as a compensation for
each victim was also presented.
The
statement pointed out that the second meeting between the Fund's
Board of Directors and representatives of the children's families
Association is scheduled for the 13th of February.
