Union for the Mediterranean. Another play off game of liars?

President Sarkozy will inaugurate on July 13, 2008, with the showiness that he enjoys, the Union for the Mediterranean. He is presented as the architect of the project.

The goal posted out is to promote a new partnership between the European Union and the countries of the “southern Mediterranean”, which purposes are to accelerate their development.

What is it?

No originality or invention as for the concept. But a remarkable absence of dialogue near the people to which the project seems to be carried out for.

What reveals the official sources is that, the structure (let us not speak about institution) would have two presidents: France and Egypt. An eagle with two heads. It will be noted that before even joining together the assembly of the blissful participating States, it has already been decided which would be the chiefs. Two leaders not very liable to suspicion of the anti-Americanism.

As for the financing, the aspect hasn’t been yet solved, Germany, so perplexed and not so much implicated require a complete EU involvement, the French man is running after external funds.

What if the goal of the UFM?

According to AFP, it would not be a question “of annoying the leaders on the questions of human rights and democracy”. This is encouraging! It would be about fighting against the pollution of sea water, about the development of solar energy, the access to water.

Who would be against such intention…

For creditable is the objective, since it is of the protection of our environment, we cannot wonder about the shift between the noisy advertisement and the event itself.

Why, if all the bordering states are concerned, the promoter of the project reserved the honor of his visit only in Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco?

Which will be the role and the statute of the Zionist State which is reproduced indeed on the list of the participants, whereas Palestine is missing? Why not keeping treating the question of the right of people for the independence and to the respect?

The plays are made in advance, according to certain editorials, and it is difficult not to smell the true objective behind the smoke: supporting in fact the acknowledgment of the American project of the great Middle East, and imposing Israel as honourable partner.

Forget about the UN resolutions which have never been respected, anyway, who is remembering them?
