The Secretary of the People's Committee for
Railways asserted the committee's determination
to implement the Maghreb railway network, which
will also enter Egypt and cross the Red Sea to
link all Arab countries, on the path to
realizing a major Arab railway network by the
end of 2015.
The Secretary touched on population and the vast
areas of Maghreb Arab region and its distinct
location on the Mediterranean Sea and the
Atlantic Ocean. He indicated that this makes it
a connecting point between the European and
African continents, which could be relied on in
the global transportation and communication
movements.
At the end of its meeting, the committee
underscored the importance of increasing
coordination between the Maghrebian networks to
realize a united Maghrebian network that would
enable the launching of the fast Maghreb train.
The Maghreb Committee approved its budget for
2009 and the meetings programs of the
specialized sub-committees.
The committee decided during this meeting to
form a commission to review its statute.
The members of Maghreb Committee of Railway
Transport have sent a cable to the Leader of the
Revolution, Chairman of the Council of Heads of
State of the Arab Maghreb Union in which they
extended their felicitation on the 40th
Anniversary of al Fatah Revolution.
They expressed their pride of the Leader's brave
stances and what he had to say in his speech to
the UN General Assembly in which he exposed the
falsity and frailty of the international order,
and called for a new system based on justice and
equality between peoples.
They also renewed their pledge to the Leader to
the role of the Maghrebian Committee for Railway
Transport to achieve integration between Maghreb
states in the railway sector as a step towards
eventual unity of the Maghreb.
