[RCM 10.03.2008] Women's Activists in Tripoli Shabia commemorate the International Women's Day

[Tripoli, 08.03.08 – Jana] Women's' activists in the Great Jamahiriya commemorated Saturday evening the International Women's Day by organizing a festivity in Tripoli under the theme: ''The Woman Between Reality and Aspiration''.

The festivity was attended by the secretary of Women's affairs at the People's Congress in Tripoli Shabia and a number of secretaries of women's affairs in BPC's in the Shabia, members of teaching staff at al-Fateh University, veteran scouts and a delegate from the resident representative of the UN Development Program in the Great Jamahiriya.

Secretary of Women's Affairs at the Shabia's people's congress congratulated the Leader of the Revolution and the Libyan people on the 31st anniversary of the declaration of People's Authority and the birth of the first Jamahiriya in history. She highlighted, in her speech, the gains achieved by women in the Great Jamahiriya in all aspects of life by the grace of al-Fateh Revolution and its leader where women in other parts of the world are still suffering all forms of injustice and oppression.

She urged the Libyan women to play more active role in building the Jamahiri society and to establish people's authority through the BPC's. 

During the festivity a visual documentary about the role of the Libyan woman was presented, in addition to her participation in various conferences and seminars at the local regional and international levels, in addition to honoring a number of pioneers of the General Scouts Movement.
